These literary ideas are the inspiration behind our Alinea Collection. With a nod to Francophilia, Alinea became a fitting name for a collection that introduces new thoughts around foundational elements of textiles.
Artistically driven by the opportunity to weave beautiful stories through visual communication, this collection takes you on a journey that triggers the imagination and awakens your creativity. As we immersed ourselves in the development of Alinea, the concepting, collaboration and crafting revealed a tale intimately woven with the Pallas Textiles brand.
STARTING A NEW CHAPTER
Alinea celebrates the chapters we have told and the journey we continue to travel. It toys with its etymology, featuring linear design details infused throughout the textiles. On a grand scale, the collection is evocative, expressive and eloquent. Individually, each pattern elicits an emotional connection through the power of storytelling.
As you page through each pattern, story elements appear. Textile designs act as featured characters to captivating color stories, such as Allusion, which offers eight distinctive colorways that invite interior designers to integrate its intriguing appeal. Verse sets the scene with its unique tactility and foundational color range, while Lore reveals a plot twist with its contemporary take on traditional heathered tweeds and saturated tones.
When the full story unfolds, you see the poetic ways in which Alinea tells the story of Pallas through the crafted point of view - the art of using line, form, color and texture. The elegant simplicity of these elements creates a designer’s paradise on which to design a tableau of evocative environments.
INSPIRING STORIES
Offering a sensory-rich experience, the Alinea Collection features six approachable designs for upholsteries and panel fabrics that are contemporary yet timeless, like a classic piece of literature.
Allusion offers “trompe l’oeil” or deeper meaning in its design, like a story that conveys ideas and imagery beyond words on a page. The pattern is emotionally compelling, offering a soft contrast to the stark geometry of a circle motif, toying with layering and transparency while integrating color in alluring and unexpected ways.
We tend to think of lore as something centuries old. A perfect representation of its legacy-laden namesake yet with a contemporary twist, Lore is a nod to traditional heathered tweeds in an array of colors. A multipurpose textile, its versatility can fashion spaces to tell visual stories and set the stage for future chapters.
Metaphors convey vivid imagery that transcend literal meaning, using language that activates the imagination, sparking intrinsic emotion. A coated fabric infused with the look of natural fibers, Metaphor features a classic crosshatch tabby design that serves as a visual metaphor of a woven staple.
Simile is used as a literary device to assert similarity between two dissimilar concepts. Signaling its eponym, Simile is a distinct coated vinyl that mimics a woven cloth through contrasting layers of color and sheen. This unique fabric creatively denotes dimension and materiality on an otherwise flat surface.
Arranged in a metrical rhythm, the bouclé yarn of Verse yields a richly dimensional surface that visually versifies weaving and provides a unique tactile experience. Offered in sophisticated, conspicuous colors, Verse engages creativity in the same way a poetic line of prose conveys a message more effectively than facts alone.
An expressive device, vignettes step away from the action to momentarily shed light on something not quite apparent. Like this brief evocative account, Vignette conveys the characteristics of a broken stripe infused with marled details and surprising color combinations that conjure emotion through tactility and timelessness.
