Based in New York, Lori Weitzner is principal and creative director of Lori Weitzner Design Inc. and Weitzner Limited. Acknowledged for her unique talent, her holistic approach to design, and her deep commitment to environmental concerns, Weitzner has won numerous awards, including the 2003 Innovations Award for her Jottings Collection, one of the first fabrics to carry the Green-e logo.
Known for a sophisticated color palette, intricate, dimensional textures, and a lyrical, painterly approach to pattern, Weitzner has developed products for numerous clients. Her sophisticated body of clients includes Pallas Textiles; Sahco; Larsen; Museum of Modern Art; Calvin Klein; Estee Lauder; Dansk; Wamsutta; Samuel & Sons Passementerie; Endless Knot Rug Company; and Lufthansa Airlines.
In addition to Weitzner’s more than twenty industry awards, important design museums have been exhibiting and acquiring her work for their permanent collections. Her work is now featured in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; the Detroit Institute of Arts; the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design; the Gallery of Modern Art & Design, Glasgow; The Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Montreal; the Dallas Museum of Art; and the Baltimore Museum of Art. Weitzner was most recently the subject of a solo exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Entitled The Jack Lenor Larsen Design Studio Part II; The Lori Weitzner Years, 1992-1995, the exhibition celebrated the creative collaboration between two design industry luminaries, honoring Weitzner’s past contributions to the industry and featuring stunning selections from her most recent collections.
