CHICAGO – Pallas® Textiles introduces Tribute, a new environmentally friendly upholstery collection, and one of the first to be made from bamboo fibers. Pallas Textiles will display Tribute in the showroom it shares with KI, Ste. 1181, at the 2007 NeoCon® World’s Trade Fair.

Used for thousands of years across Asia to create architecture and furniture, bamboo is regarded as a symbol of longevity, endurance and perseverance. Yet, only recently has the tropical woody grass become a resource for textile production. The ability of bamboo to grow exponentially, thriving even under extreme adversity, makes bamboo a smart, sustainable alternative.

“Bamboo is an ancient Asian resource sought out for its strength and courage in the midst of adversity,” said Lori Weitzner, designer of Tribute for Pallas Textiles. “Its historical significance and modern relevance infused the design of this new collection.”

Endurance and Perseverance pay homage to the beautiful intelligence of nature, offering a sensual hand, intriguing luster levels, and brilliant color play with the legendary resilience of bamboo.

Endurance is an epinglé, cut and loop pile in a horizontal stripe made of 100 percent bamboo fibers, and more than 50,000 double rubs. Endurance comes in the following
14 subtle, sophisticated colors including, Sapphire, Graphite, Bluegrass, Pewter, Mimosa, Sandalwood, Squash, Hazel, Amber, Carmine, Mushroom, Shadow, Black Magic and Gray.

Perseverance is a two-color rib construction that creates texture and interesting color play, made of bamboo and cotton, and achieving more than 50,000 double rubs. Perseverance is available in the following 13 colorways including Milkweed, Stone, Alloy, Molasses, Wood, Cinnabar, Tuscany, Persimmon, Sunny Side, Spring, Seagreen, River and Silhouette.

“Tribute is testimony to the strength, resilience and beauty of our natural world,” said David White, vice president and general manager, Pallas Textiles. “Bamboo’s pesticide free, sustainable cultivation and its naturally advantageous properties make Endurance and Perseverance an intelligent fusion of aesthetical form and function.”
